Duchess Elisa of Provence 1107AD
12th June 1109
All is quite in Provence. I decide it is time I find myself a hobby.
A new investment.
News spreads quickly and within the month a band of hedge knights arrive and visit the inn, before I even get a chance to open. I prepare a lavish feast in their honour. I decide to name the house after one of those men: the Drunken Squire. The poor man entered a jousting tournament while drunk and injured himself.
Boys will be boys
So, I kickstarted this game way back when, and I now have beta access. I don’t usually bother with betas (prefer saving my times for not only released games, but released games that have had time to receive any essential patches.
But, Planetary Annihilation has planets! Similar to the strategy I’m slowly (so slowly that perhaps stationary is a better word) developing as a hobby. Also, I loved Total Annihilation back in the day, so, I thought I’d give it a shot. The game set up is me v AI on a 2 planet system. I’m not entirely sure if the beta includes any other options, so I’ll role with it.
A new threat
While Yonna may be mine, and Thessa’s resistance to my attack is proving pretty feeble, unfortunately I have a new problem to deal with: Capria of the Bannor have declared war on me. And worse still, they’ve founded a new city on the coast blocking off my frontlines from my orchish heartlands. I suppose it’s unsurprising, as they’re the holy crusaders of the game, and it’s only natural that they have taken a dim view of my aggressive expansion. Still, it’s another problem that will have to be dealt with. Their new fledgling settlement, Tentatio-onis is in my way, and it will have to go.
This is the last settlement I plan on building for quite some time. From now on, we'll be on the offense.
My little peninsular empire is up and running nicely. I now have warrens in my three cities,s and the orcs up on Renegade Hill have built a couple of galleys. We will ride out on the next tide and wash up upon the western isles as a unstoppable force that even King Canute would trouble to turn.
Turns 612 – 690
This is the final chapter. And I’ll apologise in advance, it’s probably the least interesting installment of my game. If you’ve played Civ (or similar) games before, you’ll know the end game is usually a let down, especially when you’re not winning. But, a few interesting things happen, I learn a little more about the game, and I kill more elves.
I thought I’d start a new blog for some slow multiplayer games I’ve started playing. Mostly thse games originated on the RPS forums. Don’t expect many updates for a while, as the games have only just started, but watch out for:
Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri
Sword to the Stars
I expect to do pretty badly in all of these games. Especially as I’ve never played Dominions 3 before and have never managed to play a whole game of Sword to the Stars. Still, should be fun.
